Exclamation

Ok ... yes, I know what ghetto means, but I STILL find it offensive. No matter how mainstream the word has become, I don't use it and I would prefer not to hear others use it. I refuse to refer to insubordinate behavior as the mentality of people from the "ghetto" (mostly, my people). I am not ignorant to the fact that this is a word used in a joking manner, but to me, it is not funny. It is another way in which we degrade ourselves. Again, using "ghetto" is analogous to using the "n" word to refer to one of your friends. Just because everyone uses it, does not make it any better. I'm not trying to be overanalytical. To each his/her own.

For those of you who said I need to lighten up, maybe you need to dig a little deeper.
