Maybe he really does want to go with you, but he got nervous when you asked him. He probably just wants to wait a couple of days to say yes, so that he can think about how to react. Know what I mean? Guys try to act cool, and take time to do things, so they do look cool. 
If I were you, I wouldn't really worry to much about it. If for some reason he doesn't say yes, then go solo. You'll have fun. But if you ask someone else right away, then you're gonna look desprite... But don't worry about all of that, because he's gonna say yes!
