I have never heard of this rule. And I was known as "Kathy Chi Omega" when I was in school because I was one of those annoying people who knew
everything about the sorority!!
Maybe the chapter at your college made up their own little rule or something? Maybe they had a lot of alum come to help with Rush or something so they wanted to differentiate? But as far as I know, this is NOT a Chi Omega rule.
I, unfortunately, have not had any opportunity to wear my badge since I graduated (5 years ago!), but I still have the guard on it and would keep it there if I did wear it somewhere.
