Exactly my thought! I always said that when I had a little I was going to give her false clues so she would have no idea who it was. When I got my little though, I didn't give her any clues!! We lived in the same dorm, so we would hang out in the lounge almost every night. I remember her asking me what her big liked b/c she wanted to get her big a gift for discovery. I told her, "I think your big likes.....b/c I once over heard hear tell someone." She had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA that I was her big. Because of our late night lounge talks, she figured I was not her big. She was rather bummed about it, so when we had discovery and she found out I was her big, she was very excited about it!
If that is not how things work out for your friend, tell her to give her big a chance. There is a reason why she was matched up with whomever she was matched up with. Most likely, she and whoever her big is will have a wonderful time being big and lil.
