Stringing is a way of doing big sis revelation. Basically each big sister goes and buys a different color of yarn and winds it all through the house, in and out of rooms, along stair bannisters, under table legs, upstairs and downstairs, etc...
The new girls come over the house... the end of their strings are usually at the front door. Each girl takes the one with her name on it and winds her way through the maze (it is a massive mess when you have 40 new members). Along the way, there are gifts tied to the string. Once they get untangled and find the other ends, their bigs are waiting with more gifts and to take them out.
Stringing is not allowed anymore in a lot of NPC groups. It is considered a form of hazing because it can take so long (all day) and because some chapters got carried away (winding it through fraternity houses, around fraternity boys).
