Alpha Kappa Alpha and the other NPHC sorority Delta Sigma Theta at UCSB are both strong chapters that do AMAZING things. AKA won Chapter Excellence for an NPHC group at Greek Awards last year, and DST got Community Service, Campus Involvement & Outstanding New Member Program.
If you are interested in those types of orgs., You should go talk to Stephan in the OSL (he was an Alpha Phi Alpha) because he has lots of information to share. If you PM me I'll give you his phone number and email address.
Also, the newly re-vamped Greek website will be up soon, and I will send you the link when it is approved. There are 37 Greek orgs. at UCSB - spanning every interest you can imagine. There IS a home out there waiting for you
