Two words: You can't.
You just have to try to find girls who are within the "good fit" range, which for some chapters is larger than others. Our chapter was pretty diverse in all ways, but others on campus were more set on the "type" they would take. So you look for girls that seem to mesh well with the chapter as it stands and give them all the opportunity to grow, become leaders, and help strengthen the chapter for the future. In the end, though, you really don't know.
I think everyone has the girl that was the "perfect" PNM that ended up causing more than her share of problems, and the PNM that came out of nowhere to become a strong chapter leader. It happens all the time, you just hope for more of the good than the so-so.
