I went to see it opening night at midnight. I think almost everyone in our house went and we took up at least two whole rows in this giant theater...anyway...

***possible spoilers***

Overall, I thought the movie was great! I don't think it's one that you can over analyze, you just have to enjoy it. IMO, the reason there wasn't that head-butting tension between the two men was because the audience was suppose to like them both. I liked the scene where the fiancee showed up at the Carmichael plantation and ran into the husband.

James, I think by missing the first fifteen minutes you missed out on the importance of their childhood connection and the symbolism of his glass business.

The one thing that bothered me was that Melanie mentioned getting pregant but they didn't follow up with that. Obviously she must have had a miscarriage...I wish they would have talked about that. It could have been a good scene between Melanie and Jake.

Side note: Am I the only person who didn't find the Tiffany's part romantic? Sure, it was a nice movie gesture, but who does that? I would rather have a guy that knew my tastes and picked out something for me. That makes it special.
