a South Caroline native, Bro. Gonsalvo C. Williams, MD (Gamma '1917), a WWI Veteran, served as Grand Keeper of Seals (National Treasurer) of the Fraternity and Basileus (President) of Gamma Chapter as a student at Harvard Medical School. He later graduated from Yale School of Medicine. Evidently, as he passed into professional life as a physician he changed his racial designation to white after he went into private practice in Westchester County, NY.
