“For many girls, recruitment is a “legacy” process, which means that they will be aiming to secure a bid at the same sorority that their mothers were once in.”
This quote from the People article tells you how accurate this show will be. Legacies(not any more) and “used to be in”. If mom is no longer a member, daughter is not a legacy. If mom is an alumna, she is still a member. I’m thinking “Dance Moms”.
By the way, BamaMorgan did rush her 2nd year from what I remember reading on another site last year, so this show must’ve been filmed last year? And how are you awarded an academic scholarship with a 2.7? And why is a girl who was unsuccessful in rush twice involved in a show filmed on another campus? And is Brexit, or Brevia, or whatever her name is a man?Sooo many questions.

On that point it was most likely the fact that she went viral. Lifetime sees the juicy angle and want to add her to it.

To be fair, it could also be written that way with the audience in mind. Typically, only people who have been involved with or brought up around the Greek system think of membership as lifelong. (and even then, not even everyone who joins thinks of it that way...how many times do you hear someone say "I was a Tri-Delt" or "I was a TEKE" or whatever)
Anyway, if they wrote "the sorority their mothers are in," a vast number of readers would be very confused about why so many girls going through recruitment have mothers who are currently collegiate members of sororities.

It is SO important to use the phrase, "I AM a Phi Sigma Sigma" or "I AM a Sigma Chi" if you are conversing with a non- greek who is interested in our membership process. Be Proud you are a current and active greek member/alum!
