Sorry to board crash as well, but I agree on two points.
First, on the no smoking in letters/outside the house. I don't smoke, which is probably why i feel this way, but I really dont think it's becoming to see people smoking in their letters or in front of the house. My house has a lot of smokers in it, and I feel like it looks trashy to watch people smoking on the front porch of our otherwise beautiful house.
I also agree with Carolina DG that if you are wearing your letters out you had better look good. Even if I am wearing my letters to the gym (like, old rush or bid day shirts) I make sure my hair has been washed, my ponytail is neat, and I at least have mascara on! There is nothing worse than seeing someone in letters who looks like they just rolled out of bed!
