So this mama is going to take a deep breath and try to relax while continuing to get recs lined up. :-)
She's excited to go through the process and my counsel has been to do her best to not make snap judgements as thoughts and feelings can change throughout the week. Also, her experience won't be the same as others so try to not be swayed by others opinions. Lastly, there is no expectation on my part as far as my sorority goes. Chapters vary campus to campus and she needs to make her own decision.
Her main concern at this point is the heat and humidity. Valid I think given it's August in Texas!!! ;-)
Any other insights would be greatly appreciated. One question I have is do mothers actually stay in town until rush is completed? If there is a practical reason for this then I'm happy to do it but I also don't want to be a helicopter parent. I've read somewhere on GC that things come up and girls need ("need") certain clothing items , etc. and since they certainly don't have the time the mothers run errands, etc. Thoughts?

Hi there...not sure if this will be too helpful but my daughter attends a large SEC school and opted not to do formal recruitment but she had many friends that did, and their moms came in for the weekend to share in the experience and were there at BID day to share the joy and excitement with their daughters. IF you are able to go then I most definitely would- it is such a wonderful and happy accomplishment for them and to have their family there means everything. My daughter just went thru COB- and accepted bid to Kappa Alpha Theta but that process is far more relaxed. She is very happy and excited though and I am for her. As for clothing...depends on the round but some may have certain expectations. Give her all your love and support and believe me that will be the best gift you can give her. Best of luck and keep us posted.
