I was so so nervous, but you kind of get paired off with a girl in the house, right when you walk in. It's not the rushee's responsibility to go up & introduce herself to everyone.
EX: Jane(rushee) enters the house w/ her rush group, then gets introduced to Mary(XYZ), who will chat with her a few minutes, then introduce her to Lynn(XYZ)
In my experience, the members of XYZ asked a lot of questions & kept the conversation going very well. Also, before rush begins, the rushees are given some examples of good questions to ask. It's not as nerve wracking as I expected, but it is very overwhelming. She'll be given a lot of info & meet a lot of people.
