Here's some unsolicited advice to all the moms who have daughters going through at OM, as well as to the PNMs: if you must answer an alum who's pestering you for details, just say that you're having a great rush and will tell them all about it when it's over. Actives have been known to play dirty as well by texting the PMN, asking which house she preffed 1st on her list. I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but it does happen. I would advise every PNM to put a lock on their phone where their roommate can't see any information texted to moms, etc. I told my daughter to tell her roommate and anyone else who asked that she couldn't remember which one she put first. It worked. Less is best. Word gets around campus way faster now due to texting.

Another option is to tell everyone they're your favorite. But not answering your phone is probably the best option.

Do text messages have auto-responders? THAT would be helpful. Everyone could get an auto-response: I am currently participating in sorority rush at Ole Miss and through this week I will not be taking any calls or texts. The people most important to you will understand and wait for your return call/text.

More great advice! I would say Ole Miss rush is a great experience but not for the weak at heart, or young ladies with low self esteem. Regardless of what anyone says, it is a different recruitment from ANY other school. Some alumnae and mothers alike are OVER the top during this week. But the wonderful end is, most find a home and life long friends/sisters. In the end, it is all worth it! The trick is to not listen to tent talk, keep your options open and have an open mind.
Just returned from first home game! Lots of excited young ladies. I hear the total is close to 1600 PNMs. Will be a great rush for all of the sororities!
