Let your mom have fun shopping for you. Try to steer her in the direction of your tastes. She seems really generous to do all of this for you. I think that she just wants you to be happy. If you hate the couch and marble columns, give it time before you put it in storage. A few years ago my mother bought a table and chairs for me that I thought that I would hate, but now I really like them. Maybe you will have the same reaction.
