On a quarter system? That was a standard load for a semester for me! And anything over 15 was A LOT.

For my alma mater, yes, 15 credits a quarter was pretty standard. It was rare for people (or at least people I knew) to take over 15, but it did happen. Particularly as an upperclassman if there was a class you needed to graduate that was only offered once during the year.

I'm assuming there is a difference in the amount of work between a 5-credit semester class and a 5-credit quarter class. At least I hope there is because otherwise I should have gone to a college on the semester system.

Yes. A 5-unit semester class and a 5-unit quarter class are not the same. To convert quarter units to semester units you would multiply by 2 and divide by 3.


Therefore:

5 quarter units x 2 = 10

Then 10/3 = 3.33 semester units

Also, just to go back to the original topic, OP, you just have to go into recruitment with an open mind, presenting your best self and hope for the best.

To be honest, your GPA is rather low for sorority recruitment. You may not be able to fix your GPA enough over summer break. Just to put things into perspective....


Here are the average GPAs for the sororities at UCLA:

Other schools may have slightly lower chapter GPAs than these two campuses; however, most sororities clock in at 2.9 or better.

Assuming she goes to either of those schools, GPA is definitely going to be a huge issue and that first cut is going to be brutal. Those PHC GPA's are extremely impressive! But they're Cal and UCLA, so no surprise.

Unless it was a quarter system with semester hours like UAB was. That confused everyone!
