) and I will add this...Less kids are apt to choose the trombone while there will be a TON of beginning trumpet players. Playing trombone might give your son more of a chance to shine and excel with less kids in competition for top spots initially. And the lip/braces thing is so incredibly important...it might not be obvious initially but as his skill level gets higher, details such as this make a ton of difference.
