'Best Lead': Possible Parts of Missing Jet Spotted Off Australia

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/mis...stralia-n57296

Quote:
An Australian satellite spotted two objects in the southern Indian Ocean that could be related to the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Australian authorities said Thursday in what they called "the best lead we have" in the mysterious case.

Abbott told Parliament on Thursday afternoon that he had spoken to Malaysia's prime minister about the objects.

The objects were spotted in satellite imagery about 1,500 miles off the coast of Perth, John Young, emergency response general manager for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, said at a news conference Thursday afternoon. The objects are "indistinct," but the larger of the two appears to be about 78 feet across, he said.

Young and Abbott said more analysis was needed before it could be determined whether the objects were, indeed, from Flight 370, but Young called the discovery "the best lead we have right now."

Malaysia Airlines flight plunged in ocean, no hope for survivors:

New satellite data reveals that missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 "ended" its journey in a "remote location" of the southern Indian Ocean, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said today.

"This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites. It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean," a somber Razak said during a media briefing.

That is so sad for all of those who were affected by this. At least the crash victims loved ones will now have some closure and will no longer be in limbo wondering and waiting. I hope that they will eventually be able to determine what caused the crash.

The waiting was painstakingly hard, I'm sure, but now these poor people still may always wonder why their loved ones died. I imagine they're relieved (for lack of a better word) that they have confirmation of the plane's ultimate fate so that they can grieve "properly" and learn how to heal, but never having an explanation would weigh on anyone.

RIP to those who were on board. Here's to hoping more can be uncovered in the following weeks, months, and possibly years.
