speaking from an alum

I know it is stressful on both sides, but I do know that ZTA (my alum at IU) accepted a much larger pledge class this year due to pressures from ZTA headquarters. This is forcing some girls to live out their senior year *which has not happened in years! So there are houses adapting to the changes. IU Rush is so stressful and the cross cuts that happen are very hard for everyone. At other schools (southern) if you agree to take one of your pref night houses (any of them) you are guaranteed a house...so at least you get one of the 3 or 2 or 1 you go to. But I do think much is lost living out of the house. Some of my best years were getting to know everyone in the house! There is no rhyme or reason on who gets in...I tried to pull my boyfriends sister in and for some reason she didn't get in...again no rhyme or reason she was being totally looked out for, but in the end she got into a great house and loved that house too. There is a house for everyone, but the girls have to be willing to accept whatever they get and not go in only wanting whatever house. this year was difficult as they cut a party due to the snow. It all stinks..but try again...my best friend did and got in sophomore year...to my house

Sorry, but no. This is the whole point, did you read these last few pages? There IS NOT space for everyone. Do they not teach math at IU anymore?

You know, I had so many friends at IU, many not in a house, and believe it or not they are very happy girls. We invited them to a lot of our sorority functions, and I love them like a sister and roomed with some of them post IU. I don't understand your obvious anger. I was merely making a statement, but there are MANY girls that suicide, or put down only one...

What I am saying is Greek isn't for everyone and many who didn't go Greek are still happy wonderful people...and yes, I took math...no need for the obvious snarky comment.

I'm being snarky because it's quite clear you haven't read (or if you have, cannot seem to understand) the many pages in the last few days discussing IU's serious problem where HUNDREDS of girls who maximize their options end up bidless.

You can say that there are opportunities outside greek like at IU all you want, but considering you were a member of a (highly coveted actually) sorority there, I think you have no idea what you're talking about. Clubs, etc. are great and a good idea for any college student regardless of greek affiliation, but speaking as someone who was on the outside looking in at IU until I transferred, my joining clubs was no replacement for the sorority experience I saw my roommate and other dorm friends having.

Sure, there are many girls that suicide or are too good for certain chapters, but that's a problem at every single school with greek life, nobody on greek chat will dispute that. The problems we're discussing in this thread are IU specific because of your antiquated, bizarre, and cruel bed quota system.
