I imagine it's difficult for smaller NPC sororities to compete with larger sororities in terms of alumni support and money when expanding at a large campus. NPC expansion and recruitment rules are so strict that they're unfavorable to smaller groups. You'll notice that many smaller organizations don't bother to even present at large schools even when it would be a recolonization of a single letter chapter. It's kinda not fair.

Really? It's mutual selection just like with recruitment.

What does mutual selection have to do with it when larger groups have more resources, funds, alumnae, etc. to offer in their presentations? I'm not saying it's unfair, but it certainly isn't a level playing field.

I feel like I am also behind in this in determining what the "larger groups" actually are. I mean, some of the groups are expanding like crazy while others are not. I figure that some of those not expanding like crazy are already big. I know there are some NPCs, which I won't name because I wouldn't want it to be viewed as being disrespectful to any of them, are smaller in general. With the exception of about 3-5 NPC organizations, I really have no idea what other organizations are considered smaller for the purpose of expansion. It appears that every NPC has done some great things by expanding at the various campuses in the colonizations thread. That is why I am really confused.

Most organizations go through phases. At one point, we made a conscious decision NOT to expand because we wanted to focus our resources on making our existing chapters stronger so we weren't closing them. We've switched our focus at this point to expansion and have had some major ones. We've also been more selective and pulled out of consideration at a few schools when we decided it wasn't the right time. These are highly individual, case by case decisions. For some groups, it might not be the right time at the right schools for them.
