Worried about GPA

I am aware of needing to focus on other areas. Few months back I had talked with a random girl in a sorority and she said that none of the chapters at my school even really care about rec letters. Granted I know that doesn't mean forget all about them. I just want to know if they don't really focus on rec letters, then how can I really put myself out there as someone they should recruit.

And another thing, I'm not from the south and back home there is no alumnae association to help me get letters, nor do recommendation letters even matter in recruitment up north. I know a couple girls who could help me get letters but the chapters up from around my home are different from the chapters at my college. I am used to a whole different ball game, and really am stuck on what to do.

Seriously? You know NO women who went to college and might have been in a sorority? You know no girls that were a year or two ahead of you in high school who might be able to help you now?

There are dozens of threads in the Recruitment section that explain how to find recommendations. There are many, many ways to find sorority women who might help you. It takes work.

How do you "put yourself out there as someone they should recruit"? Go through rush, polish your conversation skills, present yourself well and focus on your positive attributes and experience.

You only have 3 more days to decide...

Well, since you are a rising junior, this may be your last opportunity to join a sorority.

So if this is something you really want to do, you have two options (the fundamental bottom line):

1. Do not participate in recruitment, and forego any chance of joining a sorority.

2. Participate in recruitment, and have some chance of joining a sorority.
