I was wondering about that one and why it didn't have the rope.

In 1905, DG badges became "standardized" -- before that, the basic design was the same, but different jewelers were commissioned by sisters to make each individual badge...so there was quite a bit of variation in each badge. The rope is an important part of our badge and it's sad it's not on there...but WOW! This badge is amazing.

It's quite striking, even without the rope. I *wish* the photos of the clasp were clearer.
Side note: Landsend has a really cute tote right now with an anchor on it. Not that I'm jealous or anything. I suppose I need to go post this in the anchor items thread.

Yes, the clasp does confuse me a bit. I thought those kind weren't used until a little later - I wonder if it's been replaced at some point? I also wonder if there was a rope at one point that broke off...I'd love to see it in person to get a better look. At first glance the photos look good, but when you really start to look at the pin, it's not quite clear enough to see details I'm looking for.

My mom is a Chi O, and she says that some GLOs have alums that watch ebay for pins and that they have a fund specifically set up to purchase them. Panhell love…..
