This! I still laugh at my favorite parts like it was the first time watching. "The dog chewing on a bone under the table scene" is the best!

Great thread!
I'm old school 'cuz I'm older than dirt, almost.
"Holiday Inn"
"Christmas in Connecticut"
"Miracle on 34th Street"
"White Christmas"
Yes, all the original versions from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s.
And for a modern movie, "A Christmas Story"
All those TV cartoons from the early 1960s - absolutely abominable animation. I can't stand 'em. Wouldn't even let my kids watch 'em when they were little.

White Christmas, [I]Rudolph[/I, Frosty, and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas! And while not a tv show or movie, I always see The Nutcracker without (usually the Royal Winnipeg Ballet).

If you're talking about anything other than Charlie Brown* or The Grinch**, I'm right there with you. I know that so many people love them, but watching the stop-motion animation makes me want to poke my eyes out, and the music/soundtracks make me want to poke my ears out. My daughter loves Rudoph -- she asked for her own copy on her Christmas list a few years ago -- so I just try to make sure I'm somewhere else when she's watching it.

* I'l admit that the animation and sound in Charlie Brown aren't the best, which is not surprising given that they had almost no budget and some of the children voice-over actors couldn't read yet. But still, between the story, the writing and Vince Guaraldi's music, the technical "problems" just add to the charm for me.
Trivia: The creators of the show, including Schultz, had lots of fights about the story, the inclusion of the passage from Luke, the music . . . . When CBS execs previewed it one week before it aired, they thought it was horrible and a sure flop. When it premiered, half of all American TVs were tuned to it, and to the surprise of CBS execs, it immediately became a critical and popular hit, winning an Emmy and a Peabody.
** The Grinch was directed by Chuck Jones of Looney Tunes, and it shows in the animation. Couple that with Dr. Seuss's words -- and he wrote the extra script not in the book, including all the song lyrics -- and Boris Karloff's voice, and it just can't be beat.
