Well here goes nothing

Hey there,

I'm Nate. A new freshmen going to Brigham Young University Idaho. Yup. Mormon school. I guess i'm feeling pretty ambitious and want to start a fraternity. It would definitely be an interesting attempt due to the schools honor code restricting sex or drinking, but hey might as well give it a shot.

Yup, that's why i'm here.

So which fraternities would you have to eliminate because their principles include sex and drinking???? I can't think of one, but then I don't know the creeds of all the NIC fraternities.

Contrary to many non-members' beliefs, that's not what fraternities are about.

The church did away with its own fraternity and sorority system last year. I doubt there's going to be a lot of administration support for a secular fraternity at BYU. There's a lot more to starting up a fraternity chapter than simply wanting one at your school.

Not to mention that the BYU administration will not support any fraternities on campus and forbids student organizations that have exclusive membership in any way or that charge more than $30 per semester on dues.

If you wanted the collegiate fraternity experience, then I'm afraid you chose the wrong college. Then again, I get the idea that you're looking for a Hollywood fraternity.
