Didn't most dresses in the mid-1980s have peplums? I remember seeing a lot of dresses with peplums on Dynasty and The Golden Girls.

FYI: That style looks terrible on anyone with even the slightest indication of having hips (present company included).

You are correct. Peplums were a style in the '80s (to which I did not succumb), but not all dresses had them.

yeah - peplums always make me think of this



even if the modern peplum is



I really like the red one - but wouldn't you have to be super skinny (like the model) to look right?
I can understand the 1940s version -

but wasn't an 8 then a 4 now?

I do like the vintage 50s Dior version

My mom remembered them from the 1940s.

Mom always told me to stay away from peplums - we chunky girls don't need the extra fabric around our middles!!
