ps: i hope my questions dont offend anyone:/
You don't have to be a party goer or a drinker by ANY means to join a sorority at USF. This is a stereotype that sororites/fraternites get from movies, TV, media and the public in general.

Greek organizations focus on academics, community service/philanthropy and sisterhood, but yes, the chapters do have socials and formals in which alcohol may or may not be served, doesnt mean you have to drink (especially if youre only a freshman, you wont be allowed to).

Have you checked out the USF panhellenic website yet? Its www.USFPanhellenic.com. This site has a great FAQ section, and the option to ask questions anonymously or email your question. There are 9 chapters, and Id say each one is a little different from the next, you can learn more about each one from attending orientation.

This is getting a little long, so Ill wrap it up. I always say go for it, especially since you are a freshman. I went through as a junior and would LOVE to go back in time to my freshman-self and go through then..I missed out on 2 years :/ Besides the stereotypes, is there anything else you are concerned with? Remember there are dues to be paid by each chapter, so make sure you have the means to pay them. GPA requirements are crucial as well, they vary from chapter to chapter. At least go to the orientation night on Aug. 31st (the last day to register), and talk to some of the women there as well. Hope I was able to clear the air about the party/drinking concerns you have! Good luck and GO BULLS!
