From what little I learned working with young children, I think little boys can get teeny weeny hard-ons. I don't think they can, um, spew. God knows, they play with themselves from the moment they find their little treasure. Wow there is no way to discuss this without being completely grossed out.
And I don't think we can really blame the driver. He/she is driving a moving vehicle and that has to be priority #1.
Hopefully AlphaFrog's daughter isn't the only one who reported this. She can't have been the only one to see it.

I remember a student asking, "In those movies, why are the men always sperming on the ladies?" Sorry to gross everyone out. That's just one example. In this case, exposure to porn could also be a contributing factor.

That was the second thing I thought of (the first obviously being abuse). It may not even be intentional on the part of the parents--I know what I was able to look at, read, etc. without my parents being the wiser. It could have been something as innocent as having walked in on parents doing that. Obviously in that event there should be follow up that it's a private, adult thing to do...but things happen.
I really hope it's not abuse but that's probably exactly what happened.

I'll echo everyone else in that I'm glad you reported the situation. Any updates?

Jess - big hugs and give M a big hug from her "auntie" for being so brave and telling you what was happening.

2nd grade boys can get erections, but they aren't sexual because boys don't have androgens. They aren't going through puberty so they don't have the same urges like older boys do. My husband is a pediatric endocrinologist. He treats children with hormone disfunction like precocious puberty. If a boy is practically raping the girls at that age, his testosterone levels are too high. My husband had a patient recently that was in prococious puberty in the first grade. He had to take depo-lupron to suppress his T so he could control those urges, because unlike older boys, a 6 year old doesn't have the mental control to handle the sexual urges brought on by puberty. When the medicine didn't last the full time, he couldn't go to school. The girls weren't safe.

My daughter said they had someone (older male) ride on their bus for a couple days, but obviously they're not going to do anything with an extra set if eyes there. She said they've stopped, even when there isn't someone there watching. She said no adult ever came and talked to her about it, but she isn't sure if the other kids have been talked to, since they are in different classes. It's frustrating not knowing if those kids got help, but I don't think a follow up call would do anything more than make me look like a nosey busy-body.

Yep, I doubt they'd tell you anything. Privacy concerns would likely prevent anyone from talking with you about it.
