If you were initiated, yes. I can't tell from your post whether you are a recent pledge or someone who's been a sister for a while.

Regardless of the above, if you do make the decision to join a local sorority, PLEASE talk about this with the sisters from your NPC group. Don't let them hear it through the grapevine. Regardless of circumstances, they are all hurting right now and the last thing they need is to hear that someone they considered a sister went behind their backs because she felt being an "active sister" was more important than being THEIR sister.

Also, if the local sorority(ies) hold rush with the NPC sororities and they are all considered on the same footing as far as your campus is concerned, and you are an initiated sister of your NPC, I would not pursue this option at all.
