The article I read said that Ross tends to do about 4 years between movies because he helps write the script. I see why Lionsgate wants to get the sequel out ASAP, it's a cashcow! Unfortunately, they have to work with Jennifer's schedule. She committed to X-Men prior to committing to the part of Katniss in the Hunger Games. Yes, it makes it tough, but the reality is they filmed last year (like this time frame last year), so there has been over a year that the writers could be working on the script (as I'm sure Suzanne Collins, who helped write the movie script, has been doing).
But look at the Twilight movies and the Harry Potter movies. They had consistent new directors. It didn't make the movies any less successful or appealing to audience members. My hope is truly that the script does the book justice and that the director does the script (and book) justice. I'm sure with the success of the movie that directors will be a bit more easy to pick from.
On another note, I went onto Itunes and bought the original score yesterday. Very good. Rue's Farewell is still quite depressing. I can picture the scene in my mind.
