Sisters Share Their Ideas: "What's so great about the Convention?"

“I like the programming. We learn from professionals and share ideas with each other, verifying that we are doing what is best for our chapters to keep Chi Omega strong. I also like to see all our Sisters dressed up for the President's Dinner. —"Persephone Jones", Theta/West Virginia U, attended Convention 1978–1982, 2002–2010

“Revelry night! I really liked seeing our Governing Council being silly.” —"Persephone Jones", Lambda Delta/Kent State U, attended Convention 2008 as a collegian

“I love when everyone gathers and sings Shades and other Chi Omega songs. It brings tears to my eyes!” —"Persephone Jones", Rho/Tulane U, attended Conventions in 2004 and 2008 as an alumna

“Singing at the Model Initiation was one of my most rewarding experiences as a Chi Omega. Getting to know Sisters from other chapters and singing with them made Convention a special memory that I will never forget.” —"Persephone Jones", Zeta Delta/U of Nebraska–Omaha, attended Convention 2010 as a collegian

“I will never forget the Owl Trot.” —"Persephone Jones", Beta Lambda/Carthage College, attended Convention 2010 as a collegian

“Interacting and creating bonds with Sisters from across the country is what I love most about Convention.” —"Persephone Jones", Lambda Delta/Kent State U, attended Convention 2010 as a collegian

“I love how the current and former Governing Council members are escorted into the President’s Banquet by the G.H. of their initiating chapter.” —"Persephone Jones", Psi Gamma/Mercer U, since 1982 has attended 14 Conventions

“I attended Convention as a collegian in 1992 in Phoenix. I remember it being so hot, and singing for the Model Initiation! Now I'm living in Wisconsin, but my family is moving to Arizona in a couple months. I'm so excited to attend Convention again, but this time as an alumna! Twenty years after my first Convention, and, again, in Phoenix!” —"Persephone Jones", Theta Delta/Carroll U, attended Convention 1992

“I attended the 2010 Convention in Orlando, Florida, and was part of the choir for the Model Initiation. For as many initiations that I have participated in, it was by far the most moving experience, and knowing that I played a role in it made me feel extremely proud of Chi Omega's ritual. After I attended Convention, I was slated as G.M. for my chapter. Because of that experience I tried my best to have our chapter's initiation as inspirational as that one we all witnessed at Convention!”—"Persephone Jones", Eta Kappa/Missouri University of Science and Technology, attended Convention 2010

“Seeing the room go silent when S.H. Letitia Fulkerson stands up to begin a meeting. The amount of respect for her is incredible.” —"Persephone Jones", Psi Mu/U of Central Florida, attended Convention 2010

“So many wonderful things happen at Convention: reconnecting with friends, connecting with new women of all ages, sharing the Sisterhood until late in the evening.
One thing that is so fun at Convention is seeing all the wonderful ways owls are worked into wardrobes. When I participated in Convention in 2010, I made sure to take lots of pictures of these great pieces, and posted them on Facebook!” —"Persephone Jones", Eta Lambda/American U, attended Convention 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010

“I almost missed my first Convention as an advisor four years ago as it was scheduled on my daughter's first birthday. Rather than miss the Convention in St. Louis, I brought the family. I brought an owl cake with us on the airplane (post 9-11, I never realized the trouble that a cake could raise in security). On the day of her birthday, I had a picture of Isabella and her owl cake taken with S.H. Jean Mrasek. It was Isabella's first taste of Chi Omega and chocolate. We raided Chi O Creations for her birthday presents. It was a great day. We are planning to celebrate Isabella's fifth birthday in Phoenix with Chi Omega, as once again Convention falls on her July 12 birthday. Our hope is to add a second birthday photo to our collection with Chi O's current S.H.” —"Persephone Jones", Gamma/Florida State U, attended Convention 2008
