PS Vita simply put is the new portable playstation unit...has most of the power of a PS3.
A Slingbox is almost heaven. Imagine a box that you can connect to your cable box and stream live TV or whatever you have DVRed to your laptop or mobile device anywhere on the planet...as long as you have a good signal.
A few caveats being that you may have to spend a little extra to get other pieces of equipment to work and also the apps are pricey.
BUT, when it works, it really shines.

So, how much is a Slingbox? That sounds like something I would like, unless it's difficult to operate.

No...there is NO MONTHLY CHARGE to use it. None at all and never has been.
You pay for the slingbox itself, you pay for the apps and you pay for any extra pieces you may need and that is it.
You set it up and off to the races you go.
