I actually checked out the NOI's homepage before posting all that information. The noi's homepage is filled with about as many lies as any other racist webpage out there. I tell you what though, you want to discuss how to promote diversity and not make this the Farrakhan hour...I can understand that. So if you'd like, you can pm me and I will talk with you, point by point on Farrakhan, if it interests you. You're comment on Britain being hypocritical is even wrong...but pm me, and I will talk to you about it.
In terms of how we could get whites and blacks to understand each other...you can only do so much. For example, I remember someone telling me that there is a spring break program for college kids to live on the streets as a homeless person so they get a better feeling of what homeless people go through. Well there was a great deal of criticism because for homeless people there isn't this hope of their situation ending in one week. These kids go back to their lives thinking they learned something but know nothing about it other than the fact that yes, living on the streets is rougher than their posh college lives. If someone told me I could submerge myself into a black lifestyle, I would still never get it. The same goes for black people in "white" lifestyles. I guess the only thing I can say is to be open minded and to listen to people...people don't complain for no reason at all. In the end, I guess it's a difference between sympathy and empathy.
Also, I find it very annoying for people to use the term "white"...maybe you do for black. I'm sorry, but I just don't know what "white" means. I really really don't.
