With a recruitment this large how many PNM'S would attend each Pref. Party? I can't imagine having to narrow down the lists with this large of a recruitment.

Heard from one of my girls at Bama that over 400 girls have withdrawn or been released from recruitment. Wow.
Luckily, my girls who are going through recruitment are doing great! Thread coming post-recruitment, pending positive results.

Thanks for saving me the time to find it!
For those wondering, I won't get into MS, too much, but before we did our final lists, the GL office would provide a list of women who didn't finish recruitment for excused reasons. So, let's say Suzie PNM went to three rounds at a chapter, and was invited to pref, but was then was urgently called away, so she missed pref, and never signed a card. By putting Suzie on a snap list, the chapter is saying "if we don't make quota, the GL office is authorized to call Suzie and offer her a bid to our chapter".
Seeing that most groups don't invite women to pref who they wouldn't be willing to bid in the first place, missing out on Suzie would be sad for both sides.

I bet alot of girls that aren't happy with their list, will drop to interview with DG. I've seen that happen before, and when I was in school, it was actually encouraged. That was before RFM.
I'm waiting to hear from my rec girl this morning. Does anyone know what time pref. invitations are given out?

By who? The colonizing chapter or Panhellenic?
I might be putting this wrong but I would think that the girls DG will want the most are those who WERE happy with the invites they had, but dropped anyway because they wanted to pursue DG.

Invitations went out at 12:00 Bama time. I'm hearing of very deep cuts - quite a few really quality girls only having two invitations to Skit Parties and strange things like a girl with a 2.85 being invited to 3rd round for the sorority with the highest grades traditionally. She is a legacy to that group but still...... Rumors are flying hot & heavy about what is going on.

1) Holy smokes, that's a lot of PNMs. True story about how one Bama Rho Chi group would probably be bigger than the entirety of Otterbein Greek life!
2) Also, those poor women have got to be exhausted. All of them. I hope there is room in the budget for the Panhel recruitment officers to go on vacation (a long one) after this is all done.
3) Thanks for the link to the facebook photos
3.1) Now I finally understand what you people are talking about when you say "door stacking" and things like that. I'm a visual learner, what can I say
3.2) It felt like I was looking at a catalog...so many pretty dresses!

With the GPA thing, the way I've heard it is the highest GPA houses can take a risk on a girl they really like because one person isn't going to torpedo your average. The chapter with the lowest GPA has to really stick to their guns on GPA because it is so hard to improve an icky number.
I would think NOBODY is happy with all these girls dropping out thinking they've got an in with DG. Anyone who followed GC last year should know a LOT of girls were very disappointed to not get into a colony, particularly the A Phi colony comes to mind. It could end up harder to get into DG at Bama than through regular formal! And it's not like the chapters aren't going to be huge without these 400 girls. They won't have room to make up for a loss later just because so many girls made a hasty decision. I do wish them all the best, but fear the worst.
I'm interested to hear how many DG eventually takes, and how soon people start talking about the next colony!

^^^True story re: the colony thing.
It's their choice to drop out and choose to pursue the colony (it happens all the time at schools where there is colonization coming after formal recruitment.) My only concern is that (like DubaiSis said) not everyone's going to get a bid. Hopefully they aren't thinking of it like "this is too hard, I'll drop out and just sign up for DG."

Bama
I'm looking at ICS figures right now, says 258 have withdrawn thus far (and some of those are girls who did not end up showing up for recruitment). Still over 1500 PNMs in recruitment. That number will probably change, next to last pref party about to start.
Good luck to all the PNMs...may they all find their new happy homes!

Reading threads on GC and with people I know of who rushed at UGA, it seems to me that more girls are being completely released (or it could just be more girls I know are) this year. Does anyone else have that same sense of things or do I have a weird sample of girls this year?

I think this is a pretty remarkable retention rate, especially for Bama. It's great to hear!

is there a formal procedure for withdrawal? How do you know if someone just doesn't show up?
