Last night's episode wasn't as bad as some of the other ones in regards to insane & crazy pageant parents. Something that keeps bugging me is when parents compare their pageant kids to each other b/c there is always one that they claim is way cuter, smarter, better than the other and in the case of last night's sisters, the older one was aware that her mom was certain the younger sister was going to win Grand Supreme & she would maybe get a recognition award. Why do parents do this? Some episodes back, there was the mom who was certain her bi-racial son was the CUTEST thing to walk this planet & her blonde haired, blue eyed daughter was average. WTF is wrong with these parents?

Although we never did pageants, my mother was notorious for comparing her kids. I was not only compared to my siblings but also to my cousins. I grew up knowing I was never pretty enough, popular enough or smart enough for my mother. Wish these parents could look into a magic ball and see how much it permanently affects a child when you are always comparing them to each other rather than relishing in what your child has accomplished on their own.

WORD!
My grandmother needs that memo. Not only does it affect the child, it affects the relationship between the siblings

There was a mom of twins on in a past ep who pretty blatantly said that she favored one twin because she won more. Disgusting.

Was it the Sparkle girls? That mother - there were 5 girls in that family doing pageants - said one of the girls had a bigger nose and wasn't as pretty. If I recall correctly, the "favored" twin acted up and got hauled off (pretty appropriately) by the dad.

Was that the episode with the babies whose mother said she spent $250,000 on pageants? Because I believe she said one baby won more than the other.

it's on right now.
is it a requirement that t & t contestants have a speech impediment? i can't help but think that the kids would be better off if all the money spent on entrance fees, clothes, hair spray and "flippers" was spent on speech therapy.

I just watched this episode right now. The little girl who started crying when she lost the High Supreme to the baby needed that loss. LOL! It's horrible for me to laugh but kids who think they're the best at everything need to get knocked off their high horses once in a while.
The mom who spends the fortune on her twins & the pageants is really a woman? I swear I thought she was a man in drag.
Mackenzie needs a good spanking.

About last night's episode, Rumble in the Jungle. Just some thoughts:
1. I find it interesting that the pageant director also just happens to be the talent agent for both Eden & Alexis who coincidentally just happen to win the top 2 titles at this pageant. While I don't agree with the mom who said the pageant was made just for Eden's benefit, I do think it was ultimately set up so that the top winners were members of this woman's pageant agency & since Eden is their headliner...
2. I laughed when one of the judges said that absolutely the director influences how judges vote. Gee. You think?
3. To the whining mom, if you're unhappy your child took only the title of Princess, maybe next time work with her so that she doesn't just stand in front of the judges with a "deer in the headlights" look. That doesn't tend to impress judges. Also, her being upset & saying she never would have competed if she had known Eden would be there was lame. If you can't run with the big dogs, then get out of the show.
4. Was anyone one else disturbed at the scene where Alexis was at the chiropractor's office getting an adjustment?
5. GROSS to seeing Eden shave that man's belly. Just nasty.
6. Lastly, I'm still trying to figure out the "mystique" that is Eden b/c frankly, I don't find her that cute, I don't see any talent whatsoever in her (though to be fair, I don't see talent in the majority of the contestants) and her stage "presence" is actually mildly creepy.

Co-sign on everything you said.
Eden: Hubby had to walk out of the room when Eden started screaming her song. Which, by the way, sucked on so many levels. Her "agent" wrote that? All the kid did was yell incoherently (for a fun time, check out Eden's interview on "The Talk". Leah Remini's face is priceless).
They actually dragged that little girl to malls to sing her wretched "song". I wonder how many people left the mall early that day because of her "performance".
Mikki Wood - Eden's mother - is a freak. Sorry, lady, but a "TWO MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT!" is nothing these days. Your kid isn't an actor, singer, or entertainer in any form. She walks around a stage like she has a pole up her bum while blinking at the judges. It's not a talent. I think that everyone has a talent, but the entertainment industry isn't the place for Eden.
And the moment when Eden was throwing a hissy and her mother put her head to Eden's, my stomach literally dropped. I thought the poor kid had gone catatonic thanks to the stress that witch puts on her. "She had a choice", Mikki said. Yeah, she chose not to disappoint her freak of a mother who has spent more than $100K in exchange for some cheap plastic crowns and dubious titles.
Gabrielle
That poor 3-yo. The way her mother was pulling and yanking and throwing her around on camera made me wonder just how rough she is with her when the cameras aren't rolling. The mother got so mean, and the way she spoke to her - she could barely control her anger then, I don't want to know how much she lets it out on that kid. It made me very, very sad.
And what was up with the kid sticking her butt out like that? She even did it while being interviewed. If we had done that as kids, my mom would have smacked us til kingdom come. Ladies don't do that. Not even 3-year old girls. The mother thought it was funny. I found it vulgar.
Alexis
Now she is a gorgeous girl (and very poised) but she needs to stop telling everyone how pretty she is. They all do. It's their damn mothers telling them that they are prettier than everyone else, because conceit isn't pretty. Right now, she seems very sweet. I don't remember her throwing any fits. She was a little kid without being a brat like most of the kids we see on the show.

Right. You tell a kid over and over how pretty she is. Then she hits that awkward 6th grader stage and is suddenly less cute. The average kid takes that awkwardness hard. Imagine how hard it is on someone who spent the first 10 years of life racking up trophies based on her looks.
I think the BIGGEST problem I have with this is parents telling their kids that they're going to be the next Hannah Montana or iCarly and that pageants are a stepping stone to that. They are SO NOT. The average child actor on TV was never in a pageant.
