No, the Pledge house was provided by MTV, as a place where they could film the pledges. It was pretty far from basically anything in Davis, so it gave the pledges a place of solitude, with just them and the cameras. (So calling it swanky is fine.)
As to the sister's behaviors over the quarter, I think they behaved remarkably well. The camera will probably only show the 12 girls on the website, and those 6 sisters have been some of the strongest (least gossipy) members of Sigma, and should be able to show accurately and properly what it is like to be in a sorority.
And Eminem, as anyone living in Davis will tell you, is a very talented man.
