I think the main reason = Conventions are really expensive for orgs and require a LOT of planning in advance. Hence the every 2 (or 3 years) thing. You're bringing together basically your entire org, so it's hard to do every year.

That's true, I wonder why we do it every year.... Not that I'm complaining
