What if he was so drunk that he really thought his friend was ok to drive? Whose responsibility is it then?
I know alcohol affects people differently, but how drunk do you have to be to not notice your friend has had even a single drink??

Absolutely.

Basically.

While I am really sad at lives lost.....my grandfather was hit by a drunk driver. I'm a little more touchy about this subject than many so I am always more angry than sad at stories like these. I'm sure he was a good man, even a great man, but one poor decision can do so much.

That's just it- we don't know. We don't know how drunk he was, or if he was at all. Yes, maybe poor judgement, but he's not the one that drove, and while he is somewhat culpable for his own death in choosing to get into a car with a drunk person (however much his judgement was affected by a substance), I don't see how there is more reason to hate on him rather than the person that *actually* drove drunk and had a history of driving drunk.

I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk and/or buzzed driving. Too many people that I know have had their lives shattered by people like that, even when it's "Trust me officer, I've only had 2 beers."
