I would be very surprised if Karofsky kills himself. If they show is conscious about making a statement and saying that it gets better, then how does this portray that? His suicide wouldn't be a "don't do this" lesson, but rather an "it doesn't get better" lesson.
I would also be upset because I really like Karofsky as a character. Most media portrayals of gay men are stereotypical, so it's really refreshing to have a character that says being gay doesn't mean you're X, Y, and Z.
