With his hair redone in classic Man of Steel style, I think he'll look the part. I'm really not familiar with him as an actor though. I think the more important question will be how the script and shooting is done. I think that Superman Returns bombed more because it was shot in a sort of tribute style to the "original" Christopher Reeve film. Watch the two back to back and you'll see all the references. But it wasn't strong enough to stand on its own.
