Try this link: http://tinyurl.com/4usx2c4 If those search terms don't work, switch em up a bit.

I have an important question. I'm planning on rushing fall 2011 at UK, I'm going to be the first in my family, besides my uncle in a frat, and so I'm going in blindfolded. I've been hearing a lot about recs. Are they crucial to joining a sorority at the University of Kentucky? If so I'm in big trouble because I live in Vermont and our biggest University, UVM, only has 5 sororities, with only 4 of them being national. I looked at UVM's website and there are only 3 sororities compatible with UK's, making my odds worse. Any advice for me? Should I try to get recs from the 3? How do I get these recs? And is there anything else I can do to improve my chances? Like I said I'm brand new at this and I only know what I'm reading about. Thanks!

there are tons of threads on recs. Do a search here for them. The fact that you live in Vermont is irrelevant. And it has nothing to do with how many are at UVM. And nothing about your relatives. Ask your teachers, school counselors, Sunday School teachers, employers, people you volunteered with, neighbors, and ask your uncle if he knows any Greek women. NETWORK!

UVM has nothing to do wth UK rush. If you are being told you do not need recs at UK, you are being given bad information. Start emaling and calling friends and family, you will be amazed how many are in sororities and willing to write recs for you.
Also you must get registered for rush at UK. Start here: http://www.ukpanhellenic.com/. Be sure and add Phi Mu to your list, as they will be a new group beginning this fall. You will be fine as an out of state PNM if you do all of your homework, prepare well for the process and have an open mind.

Exactly. If your mom's HS best friend lives in Oregon and her next door neighbor is a Phi Mu alumna, you can get a rec from her. The rec gets sent straight to the chapter - not to you - so it's not like you're going to sign off on it or anything.
And yes RECS ARE CRUCIAL AT UK.
Also, http://www.npcwomen.org/alumnae-panh...directory.aspx use this to find the alumnae Panhellenic nearest to you. They can assist you AFTER you tap out all the resources Titchou mentioned. If there isn't a link to the site, call the national Panhel office and ask them to help you contact the group.
