The AES and the Sigma

This is a silly little question that may have no answer. I've searched here as well as googled and haven't come up with anything.

At the risk of sounding like OldU, I noticed that almost all of the AES sororities used at least one Sigma in their letters. The letter Sigma is quite underrepresented in the pre-1951 NPC groups, with Sigma Kappa being the only exception.

Obviously I am not looking for secret or ritual information. I was sort of curious if there was a reason the Sigma was so prevalent in the AES?

It's funny you should mention - I was reading up on the AES this past week. Sigma Kappa absorbed Pi Kappa Sigma in 1959, and I've often wonder if PKS handed over their ritual info, or if it died with the members.

Sigma Kappa had the option to adopt some of Pi Kappa Sigma symbolism, and chose not to. I think that would have been kind of interesting, but they may not have been easily blended. Worth noting that Colby College was/is not a Teacher's college or "Normal" school.

I guess I could contact my NHQ, but that would be too much like right.

Without getting into detail, ASA's use of sigma has nothing to do with teachers or education. So it's not that.
