When I was pledging I was not allowed to wear letters or anything relating to the sorority with exception to our pledge pins/ribbons (and bid day shirts which had screen printed letters). That being said, orders for apparel went out while we were pledging and we were allowed to order apparel. Once we were initiated our "moms" presented us with our first set of letters. I believe that my letters are much more special to me because I had to "earn" them. Just my opinion though.
