Lane, I learned the same exact lesson. My first quarter GPA was a 1.5 for the same exact reasons (too much partying, and I never had to study in high school and thought it would be the same in college). After intervention from Theta, and threats from my mom ("If you're going to flunk out of college, you can do that at home at the community college!"), I pulled a 3.0 the next term and was fine after that. He'll do it!
