Well, it could be a 4th dimension, but at the same time it could also be another direction, too. Ya know what I mean? I mean, why wouldn't it be? What about through rotating black holes? That's the only time things seem to disappear in space (that we know of). Like I was saying earlier, nowhere in space that we can see, do things just disappear. How do we know that at the center of a rotating black hole there isn't some kind of tunnel that connects space-time to another universe or another point in our universe? I mean, travelling through a stationary black hole would be fatal, but rotating black holes have a ringlike singularity, so that it might be possible to pass through the ring onto the other side. I mean, think about it. A black hole is not a stagnant thing, it moves in time, which kind of ties into what you're saying about space time itself. In fact black holes drag space time and space with it similar to the way a drain hole drags sewage down into itself. The sewage is "moving" somewhere. Right? The way I picture a wormhole/black hole is, I picture them as a tube of rubber with two rims, one rim in our universe, and the other in a parallel universe. The lines running down the tube correspond to the distance from the center of the hole. The lines forming circles around the throat/tunnel of the tube correspond to different times. So, a circle near the opening rim corresponds to early time, and the circle around the throat/tunnel corresponds to a later time, or another part of the universe that could be millions of light years away through ordinary travel. It's just that as an object approaches the hole, the tube begins to stretch as if the two rims were being pulled apart. Ya know what I mean? It's just that not only are space and time being dragged into the hole, but the object is also being dragged through the hole, so actually, it would also be moving in another direction. Where it ends up, I don't see how anyone would know. That includes aliens. I mean, it's all specualtion pretty much.
Oh, and my Geek random for today is, I can't wait until Mr. gets here, because I just bought our movie tickets online. We're going to see the 11:45 late showing of Skyline, tonight. I'm SO exicted!

Just by the way these aliens looked, I knew right from the start that the story writers didn't have an understanding of the scale law. I don't think there will ever be a really good ET movie where they invade Earth. I guess I'm just always disappointed because as a child, I've always been into and wondered would it be possible to build starships that could travel faster than the speed of light, to transport our bodies instantly through outer space, etc. Since I was a little girl, I've always been fascinated my these things. Like a lot of physicists and science geeks, when I was growing up, I was mesmerized by the possibility of time travel, ray guns, force fields, parallel universes and the like. It's just that anything science fiction was all a gigantic playground for my imagination. So, I think I'll just stick with Steven Spielberg ET movies. His are the closest things to something decent and believable. Skyline sucked.
