As far as the feet issue, there are WAY too many women out there who try to squeeze themselves into shoes that don't fit and who have toe overhang. Look at the fashion stakeout in Allure sometime, there are celebrities who do it constantly!! It's stupid vanity. If you need a size 9, you need a size 9. Suck it up.
