When I Joined: Two weeks ago!

I came to college not knowing ANYONE but I knew I wanted to Go Greek. During open house on recruitment day1, I went to all of the houses and it was really stressful. Most of the time I felt like I couldn't be myself and had to try and impress the current members of the sororities... then I came to my last house, Alpha Phi. As soon as i walked in the door, I was instantly calmed; the atmosphere was just so friendly. The girls i talked to throughout the week actually seemed interested, it wasn't just an interview to them, they really wanted to get to know me. The deal closer was Pref Night. I was prefed by a girl i had met just the night before, and by the end of it we were bawling all over each other and hugging and everything was amazing. I'm so glad to be a new Phi Baby!

Why I chose Alpha Phi: They chose me! Some wonderful friends - now sisters - recommended me for membership, and I'm so glad they did! I've already met some wonderful women in the local alumnae group and can't wait to get more involved. Now I have to find a way to surprise my friend (who I've known for 30+ years and pledged Alpha Phi at Lehigh) with the good news; any suggestions?

Surprises like this are always so fun! Recently, I learned that my dad's cousin (my second cousin) was an Alpha Phi at our Sigma chapter. She and her husband were visiting, and I surprised her by saying, "You know, we're cousins, but we're also sisters." Then I whispered something in her ear, and she completely understood what I meant...she was thrilled, and spent a fun afternoon sharing stories.

Why I joined Alpha Phi: At Mizzou, there are 14 amazing, strong sororities, but when I walked into APhi, I felt at home. I have been involved ever since!
