No, I speak for those of us in GLOs who don't confuse having things in common with having things stolen.
You speak for yourself and the value that your symbols hold for your organization. I would never tell people that their symbols are the least significant thing about their organization because I don't know the value of other GLOs' symbols.

You can always stop typing if you don't see the importance of an issue.

Only colors and a mascot? Really?

Ok, then I speak for those of us who think this is a whole lotta wah over a whole lotta nothin'. Works both ways, see?
In reality, you don't speak for your entire organization, nor do I speak for my entire organization.
What I see is ganging up on a kid. And yes, really. Really, really, really. If someone starts a local with red, yellow, and green as their colors tomorrow it doesn't automatically mean they stole my organizations red, buff, and green, or that they're somehow threatening anything my organization stands for.
ETA: By the way, her colors are baby blue and lemon yellow, and the mascot is a teddy bear "for friendship". She was accused from "stealing" from Alpha Xi Delta, whose colors are "double blue (light and dark) and gold" and their mascot is "BetaXi Bear", all according to the website. Similar yet truly not the same.

Yaaaaaaaaaay.
So, anyway, rhoyaltempest and I don't give a shit about this 15 year old and her sorority. She needs to take her young behind on somewhere else. We are talking about people who intentionally and noncoincidentally adopt symbols, mottos, and anything else from other organizations. The first 3 pages of this thread target the OP's sorority. I don't care whether or not that holds true. The point that we are making still stands. People who are founding a new GLO need to pay attention to the notion of "stealing" instead of thinking that GLOers are as tolerant (or unaware) as Alumiyum is about this topic.

Ok, so two of you have had a side conversation. In your opinion, they should worry about stealing. In mine, GLOs shouldn't worry about a new sorority with the same colors unless they are in fact the same sorority by a different name.

*redundacy*We aren't just talking about colors. Anyway, speak for yourself and the role that symbols play for your organization. Don't encourage aspiring founders to discount stealing just because it doesn't bother you and apparently your sorority.*redundancy*

I apologize. I figured she had an organization-based opinion and not just an individual one.

As I've said several times now, neither you nor I speak for our respective organizations.

True but since the OP chose to surface again (instead of leaving well enough alone, like we would believe anything she says now), I just had to ask her a question. And by the way, for all those auditioning to be the OP's Big sister, even young people need to learn that lieing only leads to others not believing a dang thing they say.

And you should star in the next Clueless. You are still on colors and such when that is not ultimately what the conversation has become. Perfect example of someone REFUSING to see others' viewpoints.
FAIL.
