I wrote a rec for a girl from my (non-south) hometown who had a great rush and went to 3 super houses on the last day--and would have been happy at any of the 3. She had at least one rec and letters for most of the houses. It ended up being very important there, we even had an active call her mom mid-rush (totally against the rules probably) for a house other than mine and say "send more letters" as she needed more hometown support to help push this PNM's case. In the end, recs and letters were very important, but we were all glad they gave a northern girl a good chance.
