When in doubt, people should contact the person in question and not just say "I saw your name on the directory..." when typing to a username.

True, i'm not suggesting typing out my ritual to someone via PM just because I can look them up in the directory but there are varying levels of trust.

It is really easy for someone who knows a legit Sigma to assume her identity online. Becky Random could totally jack the details of her real-life Sigma friend's life, come to GC under the name SuzySailboat and say that she is Suzie Jones from Beta Beta chapter and was initiated in 2000.
