most actives nowadays tend to embrace rather than take offense at the term "sorostitute". i guess when i joined i had a different idea of who the "greek chatters" would be.

*eyeroll* Yeah because it's a positive thing to take the word prostitute and add it to sorority. That's totally an image to encourage among 18-22 year-old women. And even better it shows non-Greeks that we're really all about the sex and booze!

Also, you can't speak for 'most actives.'

I guess I can't speak for 'most actives'...but a lot of girls in the greek system at my school and my friends' schools throw it around. obviously no one desires to be a prostitute, it's more of a "taking it back" thing. the non-greeks made it up? i think my generation has been desensitized to a point, to us it is just a joke.

So is calling each other bitches and hos. You'll grow out of it and realize you're just continuing the misogyny, not taking it back.

All I can think of is Clerks 2 and his "Porch Monkey 4 Life" "It's ok, I'm taking it back!"

Ugg I hate to agree with a troll but shes kinda right as far as "embracing" the word. A bunch of my sisters have captions on FB that say things like "sorostitute pose!" and joined a group called sorostitute. It makes me sad.
